Behind the Ear Styles (BTE)
A BTE with an earmold is hearing aid that hooks over the top of your ear and sits behind the ear. A clear tube connects the hearing aid to a custom earmold that fits in your ear canal. This type of hearing aid is appropriate for people of all ages and can fit a range of hearing losses.
Receiver in Canal Styles (RIC)
A receiver in the canal (RIC) hearing aid is similar to BTEs, instead it is equipped with a tiny wire that connects to the piece behind the ear instead of an earmold. It can either have a dome or a custom mold attached to the piece behind the ear.
